For a better understanding of the system, Point Calculation is as follows:
|
Base Points + Position Points + Event Points |
Base Points are calculated by the number of points attained during Preliminary rounds of any tournament. Each Win in a preliminaryround is given 3 points, Draw 1 point and Lose 0 point.
Position Points are bonus points given to the player based on his finishing position.
Position Points are tabulated below for 32 Players:
| Position | |||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5th – 8th Place | 4th Place | 3rd Place | 2nd Place | Champion | |
| Additional Points | 3 | 4 | 6 | 8 | 10 |
Position Points are tabulated below for 16 and below players:
| Position | |||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5th – 8th Place | 4th Place | 3rd Place | 2nd Place | Champion | |
| Additional Points | - | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 |
Lastly, Event Points are bonus points that tournament participants will obtain just by participating in tournaments that are held during events (e.g A.C.M.E).
Information regarding the November events will be released in the coming weeks so stay tuned.
EDIT: Note to those who complain older players have the advantage: There has only been 4 tournaments organised so far (2 with event points) and there are 2 additional events (Phantom TD, AFA Leadup Day C) planned for players below certain points or have participated in less than certain number of events for newer players to catch up. Table for player ranking and points will be up after we conclude the October shop tournament. This is the current table of rankings:

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW.
Sucks to be a NA citizen. Good Luck to the people entering – -
If im not wrong, there were already many tournaments held even before this announcement was made.
Many people are not informed about the league points and what were the use of them.
Furthermore it isnt really fair for those who just started, since points starting ACME
were also added as bonus.
( Accumulated points?? no point in joining any of these tournaments if there were people with
over hundreds of points to begin)
In that case, the finals is just all about “people who played the game first” ,
rather than “People that are good at the game”
That is the bad thing with this league point system.
IMO the League point system should just be limited to the qualifying rounds.
And on top of them, it just came to my attention that the this notice was just posted very recently.
Seriously, such is thing should be done much earlier for such an entry requirement for the tournament.
Such a case is just so one-sided. It all benefits only to first few people who started to play this game.
World Grand Prix…sounds so epic…xD
I also feel that there is a bit of unfairness in the accumulation of previous points in this AFA tournament as this will become a disadvantage to people who are just informed about this card game and are interested to play. The newcomers will not stand a chance of gaining enough points to get into the top 16 if they were to start now. It would be better if they were to have an individual point system for the Grand Prix tournament so that it will be fair to all who just started this card game and also have missed the chance to register for October’s monthly tournament.
So simply put, no one else other than the old players can join the grand tournaments?
Because new players will never catch up on the points when it is based on tournaments that that dates a LONG WAY back to the existence of the game.
So it is pointless for new players to join in playing this game?
It’s money well spent, old players.
For new players-to-be or new players dreaming to join in any grand tournaments, save your money, buy something else.
Hi, i’m one of the coordinators of the tournament. Let me lay down some simple pointers.
First of all, the tournament can still be caught up. The top player has 45 points and 16th place is at 21 points. It is definitely possible to catch up if the new player wins all games. That will also be the proof of the new Player’s caliber.
Secondly, we have dedicated several events for new players. Aside from the Phantom Novice Trial Deck tournament, we’re planning to hold another event for new players to catch up. For your information, these are the events that have commenced so far:
- TCG Opening Tournament
- ACME
- IM@S Cup
- TCG September Monthly tournament
Thus, new players are only 2 tournaments behind when they join all the tournaments specially for new players. For now the points allocation is rather evenly spread, we do not have constant winners for all 4 tournaments, we also have new players on the top 16. Example Cody, a player who only joined 2 tournaments is in 11th position. As a matter of fact, only one player out of the entire lot (who is the current 1st) has joined all 4 tournaments.
Regarding the selection of the World Grand Prix, this is the way the Japanese do it. First, they only select players who are top 3 of all previous shop tournaments for their tryouts. Then proceed to the finals with each region’s respective top 3 again. Would the new players stand a chance to get in if i do use such a selection process? Not a chance. If anyone has a better idea, please notify us if you have a better idea of how the selection will be processed by emailing to: ws.nk.ds@gmail.com. Thank you.
Regarding the usage of the points, saying that we did not mention it’s uses are not justified We did mention that this league will be used to gauge who are the top players and should there be a international tournament, we would have determined the “champion” from the game league. We have extended our invitation to new players as well as give them a chance to get back in the competition.
Also, i believe new players join the game because they enjoy the game. Not because they want to win a trip to Japan for the World Grand Prix. For your information, this card game is not that old in Singapore. In fact, it’s so relatively new that i’m quite sure most of the new players are not even familiar with the rules.
Lastly, i would believe that other card games would also practice such filters to select the top players in the region. It’s not as if we have the resources to reserve Singapore Expo to specially hold a mega scale tournament?
Think about it. We do reset the scores in every 6 months as well. and btw, please do not use multi alias… if any multi alias is found, we will delete the comment
AFA is the best time to introduce WS to everyone.. This way more people will play this game.
That way Bushiroad will start to Import!!!
I wonder if Bushiroad will invite top players from Malaysia once the Little Akiba shop opens.
Hi…i’m the one incharge over for malaysia side.
Since Malaysian are so far scattered … the invitation will be given to the person who scored the highest in a soon-be 1 day tournament.(tournament venue is yet to be comfirmed due to the uncertian amount of participants.)
Ahhh I am having exam from 27 October to 17 November. After that I am attending AFA09′.. Let’s hope the 1-day tourney is not in between those dates.. T_T..
Why not have the tourney on the date little akiba opens to public .. xD
Hi to itisi,
I am a regular of TCG and i’ve been there since the opening of it.
I have attended these tourneys,
- TCG Opening Tournament
- ACME
- IM@S Cup
- TCG October Shop Tournament Day A
Sadly to say, my luck was bad. So my points was 3 from ACME’s event point and 1 win in the IM@S Cup, so total got 6 points.
But on last sat’s day A’s tourney, i lucky got 1st and my point shoot up from 6 > 20.
So what i am saying is, if the new members join in the remaining matches, you’re still able to chase up!
And lastly, itisi, i meant no harm to your remarks but to clarify to the newbies XD
Looks like 57 points is going to be a challenge for me ._.
Looks like i have to work harder on my decks from now on~
my name is not Douglus …is Douglas…
lol doggy i tot u declared ur name to be DOGGY?? lol grats to see u in top 16
oh yeah, forget to add.
Please make Lucky Stars players proud !! ^^
What i mean is if u want to use IRL name please dun wrong la
and yes i will try to make LS players proud…
since there are so few of us who dedicate ourselves to LS
for the AFA World Grand Prix Leadup Tournament Day, is limited that if u attend day A, u cant day B and Day C?
what if your a newbie that is eligible to day C, will u still be able to attend day A or B.
Just 1 question, how do u end up with a Draw in this game..
http://bushiroadtravel.blog70.fc2.com/
LoL, I just realized that the picture taken in the shop during tournament is for what purpose.
For Day A and B, each player can only join once. However, we’re making a special case where Day C, new players can join again.
@tyrant
When times up and there still no winner = draw game
Where is the update for the Positions of Top 16
