WS Frequently Asked Questions and Q&A
————————————————————————————————-
1) Regarding Character Cards
Q. Can you use cards with the same card name on the Stage?
A. Yes. This game does not restrict this.
Q. What will happen if a Character has 0 or negative Power value?
A. Character cards with 0 or negative Power values are sent directly to the Waiting Room.
Q. What will happen if a Character has a negative Level value?
A. A Character can have a negative Level value. No other card mechanics will be reflected.
Q. When Side-Attacking a Character with a negative Level value, will there be any change in Soul calculation?
A. When Side-Attacking a Character with a negative Level value, there will be no changes in Soul Calculation.
Q. Are there more details regarding “Encore”?
A. Every Character card in the game has a built-in ability of [アンコール③], or [Encore ③] (Even if Encore is not written on the Text). What this means is that when a Character is sent to the Waiting Room, the controller of the card can pay 3 Cost and reposition the Character back on to the stage in the same Border (This ability does not mean you have re-played the card, and this ability can trigger any time a Character is sent to the Waiting Room.)
2) Regarding Deck Refresh
Q. Are there more details regarding “Deck Refresh”?
A. When there are no cards in your Deck (Even during any resolution checks), shuffle all cards in your Waiting Room and place it on top of your Deck slot. This completes the formation of a new Deck. During this time, if there are any unresolved resolutions, complete the it. Following so, due to the Deck Refresh, place the top card from your Deck onto the top of your Clock slot.
Q. When I have only 1 card in my Deck and I sustain 3 Damage, what should I do?
A. First flip over the 1st card into your Resolution area (any area). During this time, all cards have been emptied in your Deck slot, so proceed with Deck Refresh. After reforming the Deck, first resolve the 3 Damage you sustained, then after that, place an additional card from your top Deck onto your Clock Slot.
Q. When I have only 1 card in my Deck and I place a card from my hand to draw 2 cards during my Clock Phase, what should I do?
A. First draw a card. During this time, all cards have been emptied in your Deck slot, so proceed with Deck Refresh. After reforming the Deck, first draw the last card you need to draw, then after that, place an additional card from your top Deck onto your Clock Slot.
Q. When I sustain damage, I flip the last card of my Deck and it is a Climax card. What should I do?
A. When you flip the last card of your Deck for damage, during this time there are no cards in your deck. Proceed with Deck Refresh. At this moment, the damage you have suffered is still in the Resolution area (still resolving), these cards that have been Damage-cancelled will not be shuffled into the new Deck. After reforming the deck, finish the resolution of the Damage. Due to the card being flipped over is a Climax card, this damage is cancelled, all flipped over cards are sent to the Waiting Room. After that, place an additional card from your top Deck onto your Clock Slot.
3. Regarding Clock Slot, Leveling up and the Level Slot
Q. Is the phase where you “Place a card from your hand onto the top of your Clock Slot, then draw two cards” compulsory?
A. No. You can choose not to place a card in your Clock Slot during that phase and not draw two new cards.
Q. I have 6 cards in my Clock Slot and I suffered 3 Damage (no Damage Cancellation occurs). What should I do?
A. First place the cards into your Clock slot, should the Clock slot area hit it’s maximum of 7 cards, interrupt by Leveling up (Choose one of the 7 cards in your Clock Slot and place it in your next Level slot. Send all remaining cards into the Waiting Room). After resolution, continue the order of damage dealt and place them in your Clock Slot (Repeat if 7 Clock Slots are filled again).
Q. I have 6 cards in my Clock Slot, currently at Level 3 and I suffered 2 Damage. The second card is a Climax card, what should I do?
A. When dealing damage to a player, the procedure is to flip a card one by one into the player’s Resolution Area. If a Climax card is flipped over, put all prior cards into your Waiting Room. As described in the above situation, a Climax card is flipped over, thus the 2 points of Damage are Cancelled and you have not lost the game yet.
Q. Can my opponent count the number of cards in my Clock Slot?
A. Due to the Clock Slot being a public mat area, he has the right to do that.
4. Regarding Stock Slot and payment of Cost.
Q. Does payment of Cost refer to sending the same number of cards from the Stock to the Waiting Room?
A. All payment methods of Cost are dealt in such a fashion. Due to some abilities, some cases allow payment to be paid from other Slots as payment, following the text written in it’s Ability wordings.
Q. (1) Can I check the cards in my Stock? (2) When paying cost, can I choose which card to send for payment?
A. (1) No, the Stock Slots are not declared openly and both players are not allowed to view the cards in the Stock Slot.
(2) No, you will have to pay starting from the top of your Stock Slots (the last card placed on the Stock Slots)
Q. Some card abilities reduces Cost to a negative value, what should I do?
A. The lowest number of Cost is 0. Negative values are also considered 0.
5. Regarding Character Abilities and Event Cards
Q. Is using Assisting Blade a colour requirement?
A. Due to Assisting Blade being a special ability, they do not adhere to the colour restrictions. However, do note that Assisting Blade abilities do have to meet the Level requirement.
Q. Some cards have the ability to place Character cards on Borders. Do abilities that trigger from the requirement of “When this card is played on the Stage” resolve?
A. It does not resolve. This is because abilities that places the cards onto the Border (Stage) is not determined as “Playing the card”.
Q. When using abilities to recover Character cards from the Waiting Room, can Stock used to pay for this Cost be the target of these abilities?
A. Yes
Q. Can Event cards or Character Activate abilities be used on the Opponent’s turn?
A. During most circumstances, this is not permitted. The only chance to allow for any form of interferrance is when the Counter Icon symbol is on the card and the opponent declares a Front-Attacks on one of your Character cards.
Q. Can a Character card’s Activate ability be used multiple times in a turn?
A. Yes
Q. Can a Counter Icon Event card only be used to retailiate an opponent?
A. No. You can use the Event card during your own Main Phase too.
Q. There exist abilities with cost such as “Send a Character to the Waiting Room”. Can this card be Encored?
A. Yes
6 Regarding Battle
Q. Are there more details regarding “Attacking Steps”?
A. Simply put, an Attack follows the following steps: “Declaration of Attack Type” -> “Trigger Check From the Top Deck” -> “Opponent Counter” -> “Dealing Damage” -> “Character Battle”. For more information, do look at the Quick Manual page 2 above.
Q. When Front-Attacking, due to certain abilities the card across the mat leaves the Stage, will the attack be converted to a Direct-Attack?
A. The attack is still considered Front-Attack and Damage calculation will be the same as a Front-Attack. Since one of the Character cards are missing in the Battle Step, it does not happen.
Q. When Side-Attacking, due to certain abilities the card across the mat leaves the Stage, will the attack be converted to a Direct-Attack?
A. The attack is still considered Side-Attack and Soul count will be the same as a Side-Attack, subtracting the opponent’s card Level from the total Soul count.
Q. When a Character Attacks and it leaves the Stage due to an ability before the Damage Step, what is the Damage calculation during this attack?
A. Due to the absence of the attacking Character, this attack will not cause any Damage.

A. No, being in play only refers to the Stage and Climax Slot.
Q. How do card abilities that trigger on “When you attack and [Climax] is in play” work?

A. As like all other trading card game, priority of abilities will be given to the turn player, then a secondary effect will happen after the turn player. Q. When a card is taken out of any Clock slot due to an ability, what happens to the card?
A. The remaining cards are lined up in order following the removal of that card from the Clock. Any other additions to the Clock will resume placing in the top of the Clock slots.
